Imperfect is a semi-fictional, self-published memoir which takes you on a journey through all sorts and types of intricate and challenging relationships. Meg, the main heroin, the storyteller, could be anybody. Ordinary on the surface, complex and unique in reality. Depicted here, we have a life of a young woman who after hitting the bottom, clawed her way up to the very peak.

Solitude, this fatal modern disease, is what Meg had had to tackle since her parents divorce. As a fifteen years old, she started an affair she hoped would mend her wounds but what it actually did to her, was everything but. Many years laters, she's given a second chance in life, but her closet, overflowing with skeletons, is something that she finds intimidating and has no idea how to get over it and move on.

With a shocking prologue, breathtaking honesty and startling moments of retrospection, the reader is able to dip into the action set in contemporary Gdansk, a magical city situated on the north of Poland, just by the Baltic Sea.

This extremely gripping story is not another mawkish prattle but based on true events, brave and straightforward modern tale of how varied faces love can wear. Written by a completely unknown, first time author from Poland, Mrs. Magdalena Ganowska, is a proof that in life, everything is possible.

I have to admit I was surprised by this book. It wasn't really what I expected as I'm usually more into fantasy, paranormal, etc. This was something new for me apparently something I liked.

The beginning is rather strong :) I'm not against that, it's just not something I look for in books. I have to admit I thought "oooh there's another 50 shades coming". Luckily I was wrong.

Book is interesting as is heroine. An everyday woman with all her problems, interests and life. It was nice to read something from a different genre and set in Poland. It was a bit strange to see some names were "translated" and some left as they are. Or maybe it was intended to make the city feel more international? Anyway, that didn't bother me much as I'm used to reading in both languages.

As for the language... it's rather simple and I did found a few mistakes that could've been fixed by some proofreading, but it was fine overall.

I really liked the music tie-ins. All the songs mentioned throughout the book. It made me want to make a playlist with them just to get into the mood :) That was a really nice move.

All in all I hesitated between choosing 3 and 4 stars, but I think this book deserves 4.

Imperfect eBook Magdalena Ganowska Reviews

The narrator of this book is taking us for a dark journey through her disturbed life. She is sharing with the readers all the dark secrets that were kept deep inside her. The story is painfully honest and shows us how hard a childhood and teenage years can be and what damage can they cause; a damage that we need to deal with in our adult life. But there is always hope, even the most fragile soul can find a happy ending.
It is an interesting story that will make you keep your fingers crossed for Magdalena, the main heroin. After all, don't we all deserve a bit of happiness?
The book was off to a great start, but it lost me somewhere along the way. It was a nice read, one that I will definitely not forget, but I guess it just not really my cup of tea. I liked the main character, Meg, so I stick with her till the end of her story. Nevertheless I'm glad I read this book by a fellow Polish author.
Wow, ordered this by accident and it truly was. To my thinking, it is poorly written. The subject matter did not interest me. The book begins with graphic sex and then gets very depressing. I generally will read at least 1/2 of a book even if I am not into it to give it a chance at redemption but the first chapter left me cold and I couldn't get further than that. This is one I should have previewed.
Prime membership has its rewards, this just wasn't one of them.
